2008 Events Calendar
NSW Cactus & Succulent Society Inc
Meetings are held at 8.00pm, on the first Friday of each month, excluding January, in the Ryde Public School Hall entered via the car park in Argyle Avenue, Ryde. The Hall is open from 7.30pm for plant, book and pot sales. There is an extensive Library from which members who attend meetings may borrow. Refreshments are provided. Visitors are always welcome.

President, Ian Hay, will entertain us with his presentation entitled ‘You Wish’, being a pictorial demonstration of plants that are beyond the reach of members for the foreseeable future.

Following on from Ian Hay’s presentation last month, Kim Hamilton will present, "So you want RARE plants?". Kim will outline the process and paperwork required by the relevant Australian regulatory authorities to bring plants into Australia and explain the whole quarantine process. |

VISITS TO MEMBERS COLLECTIONS
Visits to collections are often arranged as combined visits with other clubs, in our case the Western Suburbs Club. Other visitors are always welcome.
There will be no visits during the first quarter of 2008, due to the heat of summer.

A pilgrimage to Nola Carr’s collection at 57 Findley Road, Bringelly (( 4774 8136); not before 2.00pm! Nola has a large collection of cacti and succulents, so there will be something for all members. A large range of plants will be on sale. Afternoon tea will be provided. |

A fund-raising day will be held to raise much needed funds for the Cacticon 2010 Convention. Commencing at 10.30am, the day will be spent at Hamilton’s World of Cacti, Lot 2 Fourth Avenue, Llandilo, ( 4777 4876. A BBQ lunch will be provided at a cost of $10.00 per person. An auction will be held, with the Society receiving 25% commission. In addition, a sales table will also be provided for donated plants and other items to be sold.

A visit, commencing at 10.30am, to the master grower, Horst Berger, at 51 Dawn Street, Greystanes, ( 9636 1387. If you want to see Ariocarpus and many other rare beauties, this is the collection to visit! Plenty of sales plants to purchase. Tea and coffee will be provided.
